Aloha everyone!
My name is Courtney and I am pursuing my Bachelor's degree in ECED. I expect to graduate next semester. I am from Kaua'i and have been teaching for the past 7 years at various different preschools. I am currently a Teacher/Site Coordinator with the Keiki Steps Program (Inpeace Hawai'i). We are a free parent participation preschool program that serves families with keiki from 0-5 years old. We conduct daily observations, create child portfolio's and have assessments that differ depending on the child's age. Such as the ounce scale, P4 Standards, ASQ's and PPVT's. I have a daughter who is almost 4 years old and I am also expecting another daughter to arrive next month! :) I am eager to see how this semester goes and what we can all learn from one another. Good luck to everyone!

Aloha Courtney,
ReplyDeleteYou're almost there! keep it up! One more semester to go!
That is exciting that you are from Kaua'i! Are you taking this online class from Kaua'i too?
Its great to hear that you have had so much experience working with the keiki already. Exciting to hear that you also have a daughter of your own and expecting another!
I am also eager to see what this semester has for all of us, nice to meet you and look forward to working with you throughout the semester.
Hi Courtney,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the (almost) arrival of your newest little one - how exciting! Let me know how I can help you throughout the process - I've had a few students who have had children in the middle of the semester, and they've been able to finish the course successfully, so let me know if I can be of any assistance.
I had another student in this class from another Keiki Steps program, and it was interesting to hear about the process of documentation and assessment. It's a little different than other programs, but the fundamentals remain the same. I'm looking forward to hearing more about this experience, especially as its compared against your past experiences and those that we read about. Again, welcome to the class!
Hi Courtney!
ReplyDelete2019 looks like a very exciting year for you! With your newest addition coming into your family next month and you graduating next semester, that's sooo awesome :D It's so great to hear that you work with Inpeace. Since I work at a lab school, we have many college students who do their advanced lab at our program and many of the people that I have met, work at Inpeace here on O'ahu. I'm very excited to learn with you throughout the semester!
